Has anyone got a report on how Glen Lyon dam is fishing. Never been there before and thinking of taking my son there in 2 weeks time for a few days fishing. Also are ther powered sites available at the dam camping ground? Also - we will be coming from the Gold Coast - which is the best way there via Terterfield way or via Texas road out of Stanthorpe? Appreciate any feedback.
Cheers

From the Gold Coast, I'd be going through Tenterfield, but see if Whereis can give you a mileage comparison from your place.
Father arrived out there yesterday for a week session, only 1 fish before the afternoon storm pushed him off the dam.
Cabins are cheap there to, always worth seeing if one is available, cant beat air con out there this time of year!

Take the Texas road mate.
It is quicker and shorter but watch for hoppers

Thanks for the feedback guys. Looking forward to wetting the line shortly.

Google Map from goldy to Glenlyon reckons Tenterfield is the best way. I'm not convinced however, I don' think it takes in road conditions.

Thanks Fitzy - I was worried about the road conditions going to Glen Lyon from Stanthorpe via the Texas road as I will be towing a camper trailer with the boat on top. Sounds like it may be better to go via the Tenterfield way. Any tips for newbies to Glen Lyon?

Have a chat with Brian Dare mate, tell him you're a mate of Fitzy's and he'll send you to the wrong part of the dam. Seriously BRian knows what's happening there, you'll probably see him when you book in. Just tell him you're a Sweetwater fisho, he's a nice bloke. He might even let you buy a lure off him.
Cheers,
JD

30 odd boats out today and I think we were the only donut.
Plenty yellas and silvers on shrimp. We were fishing boats length from neighbour this arvo they got 1 yellas and 3 silvers donut for us.
We came out via Stanthorpe and road is good .

Hey Bolgart,
I'm originally from Woodenbong, so I'll give you the heads up on directions. which will be the quickest.
Go from the Goldcoast to
Canungra then
Beaudesert then
Woodenbong.
From there you take the Warwick Rd for 44klms until you reach Legume hang a left there and head to Liston, which is about 50klms out of Legume, about 1klm down the tenterfield Rd out of Liston is is a turn to Stanthorpe which is about 15klms.
From there take the Texas rd and your almost there.
That is the most direct route.
Cheers

the road running from legume to liston Has two gravel sections that have recently been graded but caution needs to be taken on the second stretch. It's like driving on marbles at the moment, this road has some new sealed sections now which has improved it allot.
Cheers.

Caught in around 30' of water, flicking spinner baits at trees sticking out of the water and letting them sink for around 10secs, the 74/98cm cod hit when the spinner bait was sinking, geeze the big fella hit like a freight train i near *&%# myself.
