Upper Clarence

Myself and a few mates had a great trip to a place above the Clarence River Gorge recently. We went with the intention of fishing the Gorge itself but that didn't work out the way we planned so we fished the river upstream. We caught a released plenty of Bass, but not the bigger ones I've caught there in the past. In any case it was great trip, but the real surprise was the number of Eastern Cod caught as by catch.
There were no big Cod but they were plentiful. We were using barbless trebles on our lures so we got them back in the water with a mimimum of fuss. This is a great stretch of the river and it's accessible by going in through a cattle proerty called Wave Hill. You can check them out on www.wavehillfarmstay.com.au Naturally there is a fee but you have a choice of camping or staying in a choice of accomodation. You also need a 4wd to get down to the river.
Cheers,
JD

That we did Brett, the Big River is the Brown River right now, and I'm sure the Cod and the Bass are hiding from it. I plan on being up your way in April by the way, have to catch up.
Cheers mate,
John
