Dear stakeholder,

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) invite you to have your say on future outdoor recreation opportunities for the Walkabout Creek proposed Master Plan.

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service has developed a draft Master Plan that aims to position Walkabout Creek as the Adventure Hub for outdoor, nature based recreation and adventure experiences for the ‘Bush in Brisbane’s Backyard’.

This draft Master Plan has been released for the Walkabout Creek centre at The Gap entrance to D’Aguilar National Park, and industry/community is invited to have a say in the future of this centre to help develop a long-term vision.

Community workshops are being held this week for Walkabout Creek at The Gap on Thursday 16 January from 6-8pm and Saturday 18 January from 9-11am. Anyone interested in attending the workshops needs to register by emailing qpwsmasterplan@nprsr.qld.gov.au.

QPWS is very keen for the community to read the draft plan online and get involved and have a say - either at the workshop or via the online survey at www.getinvolved.qld.gov.au/gi/consultation/1762/view.html. If you are interested, please do this ASAP as QPWS is seeking feedback into the process.

As you may be aware, Walkabout Creek is adjacent to Enoggera Reservoir. The Master Plan process for Walkabout Creek and the Seqwater Recreation Review process for Enoggera Reservoir are intended to dovetail together. Located so close to Brisbane’s CBD, Walkabout Creek provides an opportunity for a beautiful introduction to the forests of D’Aguilar National Park. The proposed activities around the centre include mountain biking, hiking, events lawn, functions centre, a family activity trail and a zipline or ropes course. Water-based recreation activities, such as canoeing, are being considered at Enoggera Reservoir as part of the Seqwater Recreation Review for that lake.

If you would like more information please to contact the staff at Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service - qpwsmasterplan@nprsr.qld.gov.au.

Kind regards,

fishing ethics are the things that we do when we are unobserved by others!!

It's not just seqwater who are seeking input on this one. Other agencies are soliciting input (see below). So anglers should make sure to complete a response, or this could end up a water polo or mountain bike facility.  :o

BTW- If you haven't gone to Walkabout Creek Environmental Centre, put it on your visit list. The native fish tank displays are quite good.

Dear QORF members and interested parties,
Have your say on future outdoor recreation opportunities for Walkabout Creek proposed Master Plan
QORF has been working with the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service to develop a draft Master Plan that will position Walkabout Creek as the Adventure Hub for outdoor, nature based recreation and adventure experiences for the ‘Bush in Brisbane’s Backyard’.
This draft Master Plan has been released for the Walkabout Creek centre at The Gap entrance to D’Aguilar National Park, and industry/community is invited to have a say in the future of this centre to help develop a long-term vision.
Community workshops are being held this week for Walkabout Creek at The Gap on Thursday 16 January from 6-8pm and Saturday 18 January from 9-11am - anyone interested in attending the workshops needs to register by emailing qpwsmasterplan@nprsr.qld.gov.au .
QPWS is very keen for the community to read the draft plan online, get involved and have a say, either at the workshop or via the online survey at www.getinvolved.qld.gov.au/gi/consultation/1762/view.html . Please jump on and do this ASAP as early feedback is vital.

Walkabout Creek is so close to Brisbane’s CBD and a beautiful introduction to the forests of D’Aguilar National Park. The proposed activities around the centre include mountain biking, hiking, events lawn, functions centre, a family activity trail and a zipline or ropes course.  There is huge potential in Enoggera Reservoir and the options for canoeing are currently being considered.
If you would like more information please feel free to contact me.

I find it frustrating with these things that there is little time to participate. This has been out since 20th December and today I receive emails from 2 different sources and the public consultation meetings are both this week when possibly  a lot of people are still away on holidays.
Only thing is that you still have a fair bit of time for written submissions.
 Cheers
Ray

Went for a paddle today with a social group, very popular spot now, lots of people there from 7am and car parks were full by 10 so get there early would be the tip.

A lot of water lillies on the edges and a lot of bird life on the water so must be something already in there to keep them fed.

Kayak trolley definitely came in handy to drag it back up the hill.

The pathway starts at the new turnaround / dropoff point at the lowest carpark.

Here's a rough map I knocked up.
