A new Toy
« on: October 08, 2010, 06:30:14 PM »
Pam presented me with this yesterday, to celebrate the 4th anniversary of us meeting.  That was the day her life changed forever, and obviously she'll be eternally grateful.

It began life as a new Daiwa Zillion HLC which Duncan at Fish Head stripped down for her to arrange for the airbrushing.  He then reassembled it for her, fitting ceramic bearings and carbontex drag washers.  The colours are Atomic Green and Morpheous Purple, coincidently the same colours as my last two Holden Utes.  I may be a tad biased, but I'm thinking this is the best looking baitcasting reel I've seen.  I don't think I'll take it to PNG on Monday, I'll keep it's official blooding for an Awoonga Barra.
Oh, I didn't forget her either.  I took her out for a romantic dinner at the Fernvale Pub, no expense spared.  Chicken Parmigana, and I sprang for a Garlic Bread.  See, it's the kinda guy I am, nothin's too good for Pam.

Dale

I fish because the little voices in my head tell me to.

 :OMG

That is SWEET!!!  Congrats on your 4th Anniversary  :youbeauty  I dont think I would be taking it to PNG either but certainly an Awoonga monster would be a great way to welcome her to the world.

Congrats again,
Colin

Trying to show the detail of the scales on the belly a bit better here.  How does someone do this with a spray gun?

Trade secrets is how  ;) i was a signwritters apprentice at one stage and with a good quality airbrush amazing things can happen !

something about comming home from work off with the fairys because of all the chemicals used wasnt doing it for me !

Beautifull reel and happy 4th  :youbeauty

Not a bad trade.
Jazzed up reel for a counter-ry....
You've done well and should have those knee patches on your jeans like those leather elbows the cockies wear on
those tweed jackets.
Have a good trip. Tell me about the Kulu when you get back.
I thought it the best of the north coast rivers.

The pic is a 30pounder from the Kulu mouth.
It mis-cued a Scorpion from a batch that Peter Newell had given me to try on some tough fish.
Little did he know. Neither did I...was wondering what the hell I'd hooked for a coupla minutes.

Thanks for the reminder Rod.  We'll be at the Kulu on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  We're checking the area out with Riccard.  He's looking at putting another Lodge near there.  Mothershipping on his Game Boat and hiring a couple of local long boats for the fishing.  Ric's told me of some huge fish he's seen there.  The rivers have probably not been fished since you were last there, so maybe that 30 is a 60 now.  I'll try to say G'day to him for you........
One sleep to go.  42kg's of Tackle packed last night.  Hope I haven't forgotten anything.

That would sell in about 10 minutes in the shop I work at regardless of the cost! Sweet looking reel, hope it performs well for you on Awoonga. Good luck in PNG too. It's one of my dream places to see.

Dale that is an awesome reel mate, you are a lucky man.
Can you get Pam to have a word to my wife to give her some suggestions for my christmas present. I am sick of socks and jocks  ::)
Good luck with the PNG trip can't wait to see the photos.

Cheers
Adrian

We've been back for nearly a month now, but it was a ripper trip.  There's plenty of pics here:
http://www.sweetwaterfishing.com.au/Forum/index.php?action=gallery;su=user;cat=6;u=12
Sadly the Kulu was very dirty and we couldn't fish the main river.  The Moio and the Via were a bit cleaner and we did well there.  Then we went to Baia and got into some as well.  It's a special place and I can't wait to get back there next year.
