Baffle Creek
« on: October 16, 2011, 03:59:54 PM »
G'Day crew,
I'm heading up to Baffle Creek next week for some saltwater (hopefully Jacks) and was wondering if anyone knows about the sweetwater options in the area other than Monduran?
Cheers
John

John,

the lower Baffle sweetwater also has good jacks, very rarely sweetwater barra and tarpon. A canoe is the best option. If you look on Google you'll find a couple of Ox-bow lagoons in the lower reaches that hold tarpon and in some years the occassional barra. Besides Awonga sweetwater options (barra, Jacks and tarpon) exist below the dam in the Boyne and further north in the Calliope.  Just north of Baffle if you head out on the Turkey Beach Rd and keep going past it on teh old 4wd loop that headed back toward 1770, you'll cross a couple of creeks that also have a bit of sweetwater upstream with small wild barra - Jim

Thanks for that Jim, just by way of passing on some info, Baffle Bob's caravan park has been sold and the new owner is Roger Erlich. I spoke to him today and he tells me that the up stream water is very clean now and there are plenty of Jacks about. I'm bloody keen!
