Title: Colleges Crossing Ramp Parking.
Post by: rayke1938 on January 05, 2013, 03:49:47 AM
The boat ramp at Colleges crossing has now been reopened But unfortunately there are no provisions for trailer parking there so I wrote to the council.
 Here is there response.
 Good Afternoon Ray

Thank you for contacting Ipswich City Council.

Colleges Crossing is currently open for passive recreation and use but due to the damage sustained during the January 2011 floods there is currently no infrastructure at this park therefore at this time car and trailer parking is unavailable.

After consultation with our Compliance Officers, people using the boat ramp are permitted to use car parking spaces for car and trailer parking without repercussion.

If you have any questions or require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact council on  07 3810 6666   during business hours (8.00am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday) or email: council@ipswich.qld.gov.au.

I have responded asking if they intend to make provision for trailer parking in the future because you either have to disconnect your trailer and use a adjacent spot for your trailer of if you leave trailer connected you block off most of the roadway.

not if you park across 6 bays, it says you can use them with no repercussions!   :Hunting)

There's nowhere to take a boat from Colleges Crossing, rapids upstream, rapids downstream and rocks in the lagoon. Possibly best not to put trailer parking and leave it for kayak and canoe only. There's a new boat ramp just downstream at Kookaburra Park.

Hi Guys,

Any land based bass opportunities walking distance from colleges car park? Want to introduce the kids to fishing, so why not flick a lure or 2 at the same time

Cheers

Thanks UBK,

So was thinking of heading up towards the walking track upstream to get away from the picnic area to get away from ppl?

So just flick lures to the far bank? I was a guy today around 11 flicking down the rapids towards the bridge? Didnt see any hits though

That would work.  :tick

Or, an easy place to catch a bass or tarpon at the pipe just down from the bridge.

Reply from council so looks like no change unless it is all washed away in another flood.
Cheers
