Anyone know if there's a boat ramp at the Bonshaw weir?

Not really.
How big a boat? You can launch tinnies easier from the northern or qld side of the river.

no way.... there is no ramp we push a tinny down the bank....good luck if your going there it gets hammered by grey nomads and set liners...i cut a few set lines the other weekend...and have only pulled a few fish from here in too many trips...last bloke i spoke to while putiing the tinny in asked me to bring him a fish back ...i told him that i was catch and release fishing and tagging the fish , and he still asked when i returned saying that one family had bought him back fish from babys to decent every day..using bait and lures....just pees me off

And why there? Keep following the river down stream and you will come to places that you can.

Just a query, I figured it would be hit hard. I've got a spot on some private land that I can camp and push the tinny in no worries. I was just wondering about putting the bigger boat in somewhere along the Dumaresq. I couldn't cop all that cr@p with set lines and bloody meato's. We found some blokes putting out "droppers" along this stretch of the river and told the owner. He told them to get out and never come back. It still surprises me that the mentality still exists.

doesnt matter where you go there always some boofhead doing the wrong thing..makes it hard for us good blokes..whatever you do takrat..hope its a good one mate and good luck...let us know how you go and if you catch a tagged fish please let the blokes know the no is on the tag..too many blokes are killing them and not doing it..not saying theres nothing wrong with keeping a fish if you like but still record the data please...were trying to make sure there is fish there for mine and other peoples kids..cheers :thanks

G'Day Brett, thanks for the return on the PM mate. I'm heading over towards Texas tomorrow morning early for a few days Cod fishing. I'll let you know if I get any tags.

The Dumaresq was running very dirty and at least 2feet over normal height. We camped on Graham and Lindy's place and fished hard for 3 days and didn't raise a scale. I think we'll let the water settle down a bit before we try again.

The Beardy & Mole Rivers were running high & dirty when I was there a couple of weeks ago. I fished upstream of those (up towards the Severn R) & the water water was still clear.

bad luck on the fish..didnt even think the water would be up that much

They'd had some wild weather over there Fitzy. Big winds and roofs blowing off, but that water was so grubby you couldn't see the lure until it was almost back on the surface. We tried everything including spinnerbaits, topwater lures and anything with a rattle. The Cod were all shut down although we did see a few smaller Yella's hitting the surface. The only reason we could identify them was that they would come out of the water head and shoulders. Probably coming up to have a look around to see were they were.

If you've got a good 4x4 and a trailer with good clearance you can launch on the nSW side. It's pretty ruff going tho, you wanna have good experience with bush launching. Could winch a boat trailer down.

Thanks mate, we usually fish the river out of a small tinny with an electric on the back. Because of a problem with back and knees I can't use a kayak. A canoe just maybe. The tinny works well and we can push it in just about anywhere. I have got a 4wd and have launched on some pretty weird places. I once winched the tinny 15ft up a bank, that was fun.
