Title: suprise encounter

Was off to feed a horse at a mates place in the rain when i heard an odd screach ..... Looked around and couldnt see anything ... then a bird flew overhead so i followd it to a tree with its mates ..... just unreal   :camera

yellow tailed black cockatoos.... 6 of them!

I stumbled across a few at Wivy last August at Billies Bay/Hays Inlet.

I think the color under the tail gives them away. Red or yellow?

Also the size of the crest....

There are a heap of these guys on the Sunny Coast.  I see them a lot when visiting my bro at Mooloolah.  Seen a lot around the Golf course at Beerwah as well.  I particularly like the way be glide through the air.  Looks like they hardly break a sweat.  Last time up there I saw about 40 of them flying together across the Steve Irwin Way at the Golf Course.

Are the She Oaks in fruit up there?? that's probably what they are looking for, like candy to kids, the ultimate attractant.
Used to have a flock of 20 birds go through my Mum's old place up Crows Nest every day the Casuarina were in fruit, awesome sight and damn noisy buggers they are.

yeah mate id say thats what there after and yes the noise is very unique and the glide !!!!!!!!
