Only undersized and oversized regulated fish, no discussion on Protected/No Take or regulated fish in closed season  :popcorn)

There you go folks. Go your hardest and take photos of undersized or over sized fish. From the horses mouth, the Minister is on the record as saying it's ok to take a fish.

Get it in triplicate you if feel you need to do that. The recording of the interview is enough to cover any issue around this topic.  :tick

Just listened to it again.

Minister implied that any fish that needs releasing is ok to take a pic before releasing it. So, that means, protected species, fish in closed season, under sized fish, over sized fish and fish you catch after you filled your bag limit (if you're an esky filler). That would also include a jenny mad crab or a female redclaw in berry up north.

Then what is the point of having protected fish and closed seasons ?

I guess he (the minister) recognizes that the regs are ridiculous in that you could lift a fish from the water to measure, remove hooks and/or identify it, but not photograph it.

Understand where you're coming from. Somewhere there is a middle ground that needs to be found, but enforcing it may be a nightmare. Best way around the grey areas re closed seasons and protected species is total fishing closures, this eliminates the "by catch" loop hole. A double edged sword as it would eliminate legitimate fishing for other species..........
