Spent Easter at Awoonga Dam. Had a couple of hits throwing lures around the weeds and the trees. That was it, no fish caught. Launched the boat in the near the mouth of the Boyne for a couple of hours and had a look around, again, no fish. Cast off Pike's Crossing for a few hours for no fish. Saw a 58cm Barra landed off the crossing and Pam had a good surface hit just upstream. Met Sweetwater member Pearcey, who got a few fish land based at Pike's and out of his new Old Town Pack Angler.

not even a power tail? curious did you try nz gully on the dam? we were told to try it but ended up fishing benaraby instead and calliope..

Yep, tried NZ Gully, Futter Creek, the top of the Boyne Arm, the top of the Iveragh arm, Awesome ridge and Chinaman's bend.

From the sounds of things The numbers of fish are down substantially on what they were pre flood. I reckon Awoonga anglers are going to have to put a lot more effort into their fishing and really start to fish smarter than they had to previously with the masssive numbers of fish they had at their disposal.

There are still massive numbers of fish there, most are sitting around 70 feet down though. There is a huge food biomass in the lake which makes it hard to tempt the fish with a lure. Was strange on Good Friday morning to see only three other cars at the ramp.

Hard yards Dale, Monduran is holding a lot of more willing, though small, fish at the moment by the sounds.

Hi Dale,
Yep the fishing is tough.
Have tried Awoonga (x3) and they Boyne (x2) after the last rain event a fortnight ago (dam peaked at 1.5m over) for no barra in Awoonga and only 1 small 56cm in the Boyne.
Headed to the top of Pikes last night we managed 3 small barra, biggest and healthiest was 57cm, smaller fish covered with grazes from going over the wall.
My other favourite spot, (which I will keep a secret) use too have plenty of barra is now devoid of all fish, even the catties have gone from it.
Will be heading to Cania for my next fix.
