  A barramundi farm on Lake Argyle near Kununurra was given approval by the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley this week.
The farm, Global Barramundi, which the Shire has been deliberating over for the last few months, is expected to start construction by the end of the year.
Shire President John Moulden says there are still one or two concerns about the development to iron out.
"Council was mindful of the fact that there's a limit to the suitable land for this type of activity, so they have put a condition on that the proposed lease area be reduced to one hectare," he said.
"These fishermen believe they have the answer to some of the problems that have plagued earlier barramundi fishing ventures."
