It would be interesting to see what people would rather for example being high and dry and sorounded by rawing engines and electrics.
Or to be quite and sneak though the back waters for more exitment and peacefulness
:thanks
-
I like both, but my boat doesn't roar, its electric only, except for the rare occasion I slap a 4hp on it.
-
Horses for courses. Try fishing the Alligator River in NT out of a yak.
-
With the tidal flow there I wouldn't be using my electric powered boat either!
What it probably boils down to for me is when I'm taking a mate, I like the boat, when I'm on my own, I prefer the yak.
-
Is this the tip of the ice berg? The beginning of polarisation between those who like to fish out of a boat and those who only like a kayak? I like my boat but I'd like to use a kayak, but a back problem says no. Like others said, it's all about using the right tool for the job. Don't forget we now have people who like the idea of fishing from a jetski, and those who like to go way offshore in their kayaks. When does it stop being fishing and become a stunt?

I don't know about stunts, but I've got a nice boat for Barra lakes, I've got a good little boat for electric only and rivers, I've got Kayaks and canoes for the river and lakes and we've just bought a couple of Jetskis for offshore. When looking at offshore options, it was a toss up between spending $150k on a 4WD and a 6 metre off shore rig and a whole lot less on a couple of Ski's. I since discovered that mangrove running, knee boarding and cruising to island coffee shops is bloody good fun too.

Bloody coffee shops eh?
I remember when you used to fish nearly every weekend. You've changed Dale. :popcorn)
-
I hope they're not lattes Dale, that's unmanly. Look you can't arrive on a big macho jetski and then order a latte, it's just not done.

I guess I feel that I don't have anything to prove any more. Harro and I discussed this over a bottle of JW recently. There comes a time in your life when you've caught enough fish. I could join the Turkey Shoot at the river every weekend, but that wouldn't prove anything to me. I prefer to fish when they're not biting, and try to figure them out. At the moment we're getting some hours under us on the skis so we can be confident fishing 50lb gear off them a couple of miles offshore. Some will understand this, and some won't, but again, I don't have to justify that.

At least we know you're not one of the f%&ktard lake lice who like to make waves and noise "just to intentionally piss anglers off" that many others seem to do with relish. The lake lice assn inc should be paying you & Pam to be their PR people. :thumbsup
As usual the rat bag 5% seem to make a bad name for the other 95%. I'm sure most jet skiers are nice people, but my experience with most has left me pretty pissed off indeed. Now you've made me rethink my whole existence on PWCs.... I once thought they were like all those noisy bloody Harley riders that insist in riding past all weekend in packs of 100+, all annoying.....
-
Well it just shows that we're all capable of making rash judgements. But I believe that whatever you do and enjoy, go for it as long as it doesn't affectn others. I always thought that lake lice were the marine equivalent to trail bike riders.

I like both.
Bit hard to tow the kids around on my yak.
Bit hard to drop my boat into the river off the bank and drag it over rapids and snags.
-
You know why they make jet skis so noisy?
It's so that blind people can hate them too.

Name dropping high horsing ? If you have reached that time in your life dale as you quoted why not give it up and focus on another interest until you have mastered it ? I too have caught many fish and still love it weather there biting or not, going home after a donut is what inspires me to keep coming back again and again

Holy cr@p! You mean I only ever get to see 5% of the jet ski lice population?
There must be a gazillion of em!
-
Should have a category for both .
I have leccy boat and lekky yak and a stinkboat.
Cheers

I was answering Dave, but thanks so much for your unsolicited opinion on how I should live my life.

I was just taking the piss out of you, had a good giggle. :youbeauty
Cheers,
Dave.

Some of us knew that Dave. ::)

bad back, bad shoulders, paddleing will just kill meand leave nothing left to throw a lure around
-
Well, it would seem they are breeding.

I have a new toy I want. A Zego Sports Boat. 3m long, 190kg, hull made of poly, 30HP on the back, rod holder rocket launcher/ski pole. I reckon it would be better than a jetski.
-
There's more than a few mid life crisis things happening here
-
But I only just turned 39!!! How cool is it though! I was going to get a hornet or explorer but I am thinking this is waaay cooler.
-
Thirty bloody nine! Just a little boy, no wonder you crave toys. I'll bet you haven't caught all the fish you need to catch either!! I'm sticking to my Mako Craft.
