My 1st of the season
« on: September 01, 2011, 12:18:54 PM »
G'day all,

Well popped the cherry this morning.  After a delayed start (kids wanted to go to school  :OMG)  I made a late venture to secret spot x which is not so secret but anyways!  New snags won the first 2 battles (I hate losing prototypes but anyway)  I finally managed to crack a few.  I photographed the first 2 with the camera only to find out there was no XD Card  >:(  however they were the smaller of the 5 that I caught  :youbeauty  No real size to any of the fish however I had an absolute blast.

First 4 came on Hardbodies (Crank-35) and the 5th came on a Zipper Curl tail shaker.  Casting to somewhat featureless areas of the river (secret snag) a slow roll of the hardbody saw it getting nailed pretty early.  Either I pinned all the majority of the fish in the school or they wised up as I never got another look in.  Switched over to the SP with instant success, the biggest of the 5 taking it on the drop.  Switched back to the hardbody late only to be busted up deluxe by a steam train (Bass I will say)  of a fish!!  Never even got to set the hook!!  All in all a great morning, came home to re-rig for an arvo session.

Regards and Thanks
Colin

Thanks!

You would not believe how obvious spot x was though!  Obviously below the NPD wall but very easy to get to.  I went back in the afternoon and lost 1 good one near the bank and missed 2 other good bites!  That whole system seems to be in prime condition, I spotted bait schools by the dozen feeding up in the shallows, which kind of makes lure selection pretty easy!  Will give it a rest over the weekend and shoot for a couple more midweek ventures.

Thanks again
Colin
