interrested in fishing the river at texas but not sure where to try

Since no one else has given you any info, try this spot. Beebo weir otherwise known as Cunningham weir, head out Yelarbon road past the air port, if you are going to fish on the southern side of the river make sure you get a NSW fishing permit and check the rules for the amount of lines with hooks on them. The other option is join the Texas fishing club. Good luck.

Acording to NSW fisheries you need a licence to fish in the border rivers period, no matter which side of the river you're on.
Beebo is a nice spot, I've not been there for a while especially since the recent floods. The river has changed alot upstream so I'd imagine it would be the same down there. So any advice I'd offer would be pretty inaccurate other than to tell you there should definately cod & golden perch there to be had.
I used to shoot / fish on a river a few kms upstream on the NSW side. Caught fish there, but nothing big.
There's a river reserve in Texas from memory... Go & ask around at the pub & take a look at the cod heads on the wall. :'(

Does that only effect south flowing rivers and creeks or north from the border aswell ?

Any waters that form part of the qld / nsw border. But if it doesn't join the border you don't need a NSW licence. Eg Macintyre River you need a licence, but Macintyre Brook you don't. The Dumarseq River you need a NSW licence, but the Severn (Qld one) River you don't as it doesn't adjoin NSW.
So the rivers where you need a NSW fishing licence even if fishing from the Qld side should be the Dumaresq, Macintyre & Barwon rivers. The same as the rivers effected by the Murray Cod closed season which is 1 September to 30 November
Does that make sense?

To a degree but thas something i dont think allot of people may know about ...
Maybe another tpic one day pointing out a few things like that may help .. or is it something expected to be known ?

Actually the border goes up the middle of those rivers so, as described to me by NSW Fisheries enforcement "if any part of your fishing effort crosses the centre line on the river, you need a NSW licence & you tell me anyone who sits on a river bank & doesn't cast to the other side?"
As any enforcment officer or beak will tell you, ignorance of the law is no excuse. However you raise a good point, it probably isn't as widely known as it should be.

Thanks all probably worth looking into license. Rules are rules hey :) Will be shore to let ya all know how I fair!!!

I always found the NSW licence for fishing the border rivers an interesting idea. Particularly as I dont think the cheap licence applies as it does on the coast for border fishing.
I always have one anyway, as I fish NSW dams, but I always wondered if NSW fisheries had the right to approach a bank fisherman on the Qld side of the river.

Mate, I've fished the Dumaresq a couple of times from a property along there that charges about $10 per vehicle per night. Sorry Can't recall the name of the place but it's closer to Bonshaw than Texas, and there's a sign on the gate. A small tinnie or canoe is going put you in with a better chance as bank fishing is limited particularly since all the floods the river has changed a bit. The fish are there however and some reasonable sized cod among them. Also the Bonshaw weir is one of the more popular spots. Medium sized stumpjumpers have worked well for me. Don't worry about deep diving bibs the river is mosly fairly shallow, and there is no lack of good snags.

Was doing a bit of work with a fulla from bonshaw today bit of a character said the fishing was allways good.
