cod hybrid?
« on: July 13, 2011, 01:38:19 PM »
I was reading a segment on Boondooma (map 31)and it says both Murray River Cod and Mary River Cod have been stocked. "These will inter breed and produce hybrids". Two things come to mind, firstly Cod breeding in Dams, do they? Secondly there are heaps of reg's stopping the introdcution of fish not native to a specific area so why try to breed an hybrid? Kinda goes against the grain a bit?

I think you should look at the time frame of the stocking, and the time frame of our laws.  Both exist in Somerset and Wivenhoe, but that doesn't mean they are still stocked.  We could solve all of the worlds problems if we had 20/20 hindsight.
