So there are Tillies in there?
Might give this some thought.

I'll ask a question,

Can you get catch them landbased or by boat at Wyaralong Dam.

If landbased is there any spot / place in particular or take pot luck?

Anywhere Bondy

Rules state that you can only park in the designated areas and not stop on the road in etc. a lot do and it's not policed. Not endorsing it, just advising

beneel,

Good report.

I'll be going down there next week after my operation and see if I can get some of those tilapia.

What bait did you use, float or just small lead sinker, size 12 hook?

Cheers,

Bondy

Just use worms. They love them. So do the carp. Drop them straight to the bottom. I just have a small running sinker down to a swivel. Then about 1/2 a metre of leader.  I use 1/0 wide gap circle hooks for all bait fishing and they seem to work for both carp and tilapia. The tilapia seem to be in shallow bays(3-4m deep). Just make sure you keep your slack wound up as they can have the worm gone before you realise. Great fun.I use around 10 lb line and 15 lb leader as there are some big carp in there. Several have been caught over 10pound.
If you dont have a bite within 1/2 an hour try somewhere else. Good luck.
Beneel.

Beneel,

Thanks for that information, much appreciated.

Was all this landbased ?

How far up from the entrance would be a starting point?

Cheers

No in a kayak. Anywhere over the other side of the boat ramp. I think around the boat ramp area cops a fair hiding from people fishing for carp. Everytime i have been there it usually has quite a few people fishing off of the bank there.
If you are land based probably try in the bays that you cross over as you are driving towards the boat ramp. These are starting to get pretty popular too though.

Ok, does make sense, for sure, having a floating vessel of any description is the best way. Thanks for the tips. I'll see how I go during the week day.

Cheers

Makes you wonder what else is there beside fishies

Lake Wyaralong – Trails closed until further notice Friday 27 February 2015

Date:
    27/02/2015

A serious public safety concern has been identified in relation to a dangerous feral animal in the vicinity of the trails.

Symo,

Does make one wonder what's in there that's classified as dangerous and tracks closed.

Thanks to those who turned up and supported the event

We ended up with 255 competitors.

Some 970 odd ferals removed from the system.

Thanks to all sponsors and supporters which included Sweetwater.

All monies raised to go to fish restocking.

And yes, some bass were caught and released from the dam during the event..

Dingoes ? unless they had a white and orange NLIS tag in their ear they are just x bred dogs.

Bush pigs ? sure it wasnt just a few locals  :o

Encouraging to see a bigger turn out on previous year's comp.  :thumb Should mean more $ raised to get natives in there to eat the feral fish. Anyone know what eats those bloody midge flies? Was plenty about, but when we went for a walk to the creek below the dam we got attacked en-mass.

congrats to LAFMA Qld on a successful event.  :Clap)

With the midgees I learnt my lesson last year liberal spray of bushmans before leaving home.
Might be an idea for them to sell repellant and sunscreen as well as bait next year,.
