Copeton Bycatch
« on: October 13, 2011, 02:45:33 PM »
I took my son out to Copeton last week to try & catch some Yellas & redfin, using small spinnerbait's all we could catch were Cod, only 2 of them but it is closed season, they were very fat fish & would have had to weigh round 10lb..One went 62cm & the other 60cm.

I also lost a big fish which left a boil the size of a car bonnet.

It look's very good for the summer with the dam at 54% the highest it has been for year's

I also went out yesterday & never got a touch (but that's fishin)

There are good fish being caught off the bank by slowly winding craybob's (apparantly)

Nice Cod there mate, too bad about the Yella's, when the Cod are legal in December the Yella's will be all over you like a cheap suit.

Thanks for the report Baz, there is a few of us keen to hit the lake in the very near future. Looks like fantastic country to explore along with the fish that reside there.

Well done!

Nice one Baz, that is beautiful country. Planning on taking my son up there in the new year & doing some more exploring on Pindari & Copeton.

Cheers Andrew
