Went for a paddle on Wivenhoe with the wife after work today . We launched from the Kipper Creek access point on the eastern side of the dam .

Flicking Spinnerbaits , we worked our way out into Billies Bay . Mainly staying close to the edges to stay out of the wind .

Not alot happening in the Northbrook creek arm of Billies bay either .

Heading further down into Billies , we started to notice alot of baitfish movement on the surface once the wind started to drop. My only fish for the arvo came to the yak going, " Oink, oink , oink !"

Thanks for the report. :thanks
That's one nice looking bass Dave / Alison. What a way to get the mojo back..... I used to fish Billies Bay 7/10 times I went to Big W once, and we caught alot of very good fish in there. I rarely venture in there any more since the public access was taken away to Billies Bay launching area.
Well done Alison. :thumb

Alisons mojo has returned. Why aren't you in the outbacks?

The rocket scientists from Seqwater have a barbed wire fence and an awkward walkthrough at that Kipper creek launch area . A gate that you could walk the kayaks through would have been a smarter option. In short , I couldn't be bothered lifting all the associated cr@p that goes with launching Hobies over that fence today and took the lighter smaller yaks intead.
Cheers,
Dave.

Is the walk thru wired up again? Don't think that's be SEQWater, maybe farmer fred down the road if that's the case.

The walk thru is unimpeded . I was just having a whinge about the about having to lift the yaks over the fence.
Cheers,
Dave.

I went out on Saturday, and had sopme really good signs of fish before the wind blew me home. Only landed a 41, but dropped five fish. They're just nipping at the tail of the lures at the moment. I had a hat blow off in the wind and it was too dangerous to try to retrieve it. I surfed the boat from Brad's Point back to Billies.

That wind is blowing way too hard & from the wrong direction for this time of year..... That's what we should have been getting in August, but it was a no show.......

I caught that fish at about 12.30 with a slight breeze at my back, it was almost glass like. By the time I landed the fish, took the photo and released it the wind was blowing 25 knots into my face and waves were coming over the front.

After catching a couple of bass Thursday , we went up again on Saturday. We also got caught in the sudden wind change. Put in at Hayes Landing ,fished out in the middle for a bit then decided to go up to the rock cliffs on the same side as Hayes as it was flat as a tack and thats where we got the fish on Thursday. Just one bay before there I could here this noise like a large bush fire or a plane or a freight train, still flat at this time with slight ripple on water, then stayed in that area for a while . About five minutes later wind picked up ,not bad so decided just to turn around to make it easy to get back. Then a couple of minutes I was paddling as fast as I could looked across the dam and decided to head to the nearest land . After I was thrown onto the shore I waved to my partner to come in towards me, again kayak was a surf ski. I kissed the ground then said leave the **!! kayaks and lets walk back to car parked at Hays, but decided to carry them across land to the next inlet. Just got across there before it was also white water, then drove car to kayaks.
Learned a lot ,next time take wheels for kayaks and check Gatton wind forecast and always fish close to shore.

Good to see you getting some fish Catlin, nice to see a report from you. Wivenhoe can be a dangerous place in the wrong conditions. :Oops)
Cheers Andrew

Sorry Alison didn't mean to ramble on so much on your post but still a bit in shock.

Caitlin ,
I'm Alison's husband . I am left scratching my head with some of the fish she has landed in the last month . Have a look at this Yellowbelly she caught Sunday arvo , it was caught trolling a spinnerbait down the river ( she launched an hour or so after WayneD and I , and was making her way down to catch up with us ).

That is just amazing, just make sure she just keeps it simple and relaxed, don't try too hard .
e.g: changing line, lures and techniques.
