Location ideas for these westerlies?
« on: May 18, 2013, 07:51:19 PM »
Hoping to get out somewhere after lunch tomorrow, test the new sounder and chase some bass. Ideally want to hit Wivenhoe, but these winds have me a bit concerned. Only other place I can think if dam wise is maybe Maroon will be protected at least on the ramp side.

If anyone had some thoughts on where to go with this wind would love suggestions. Don't have to be specific, I'm happy to hunt areas, bit sketch about some rivers with an outback and mirage drive..

Anyway will post a report if I get on the water.

Murray.

Cant help, but yeah, a river, preferably with timber / steep banks is always good in  blow.

The wind can get annoying at maroon still but probly a safer option than wivy or moogerah even.

Hinze is the go if you do not mind a drive.Go upstream after you leave the ramp and fish the drop offs in submerged gulleys it was nice and protected there yesterday.
Or you can go in amongst the submerged trees opposite ians island but you will be subject to the wind and slop getting there but it is nice and protected there once you arrive.
We got 50 odd bass and a yella all on shrimp. The banded grunter are a pest.
Cheers
Ray
