Here is an update on some recent recaptures of tagged Awoonga fish and true wild fish.

Thanks Johnny,some good info in that Blog,I used to do a fare bit of tagging but have dropped away from it in the last few years,tagged quite a few Barra in Lenthalls and have only had a few recaptured or found dead in the big freeze of 2007,I liked the comment of overnight Guru's  ::) classic

Interesting data. Well done. The only downside is the font size is a bit small making for hard reading.

Thanks for sharing Johnny, interesting read and data collected.

It's fascinating to read about there nomadic habits and growth rates.

Has there been many tagged Barra caught north of the Boyne that you know of?

So what is the theory about the fish escaping Awoonga before the flood? Was it catch in the dam and release in the river or are you suggesting they jumped the wall?

Good stuff Johnny, The more you learn about Barra, the more you realise you don't know about them. Good to see the numbers reverting successfully back to the "wild".

Dicko, every now and then my blog throws small font at me and I can't ever seem to fix it- would if I knew how. Sorry.
Bracey, I don't know of any tagged Awoonga barra caught north of the Boyne, but I imagine there will be, somewhere.
Brian D- I'm lost with your question- did my wording suggest barra escaped the dam prior to the floods? I'll re-read!
John, Interesting fish alright- they've done miles- well plenty of them have anyway. There's always something valuable to learn about the fish.
Paul Dolan, I hope the ones you tagged are still kicking about somewhere in the systems to suprise you again one day- that's barra.
