Title: Targetting spawning fish - right or wrong?
Post by: Chep Buxley on July 22, 2014, 03:38:53 PM
There have been a few threads recently about bass fishing during the closed season.
Would try for them if you could?

If you say NO - they are a vulnerable species, give em a chance etc etc then why is it ok to target spawning flathead?

It is actively encouraged in the fishing media & there are competitions in their peak breeding time. Even if it is catch and release, surely some of those big girls must be exhausted and not spawn? I'm only guessing of course. What do you think?

I don't think there can be a deliberate target of any species so long as you release out of season species, after all every time you chuck a hook in the water your likely to catch a fish (that is unless your me)
