Mud Marlin fishing comp at Numeralla

This year’s 10th annual ‘Mud Marlin’ carp fishing competition organised by the Numeralla Fishing Club resulted in nearly 2000 carp being caught in streams that were originally great native fish habitat and more recently some of the best trout waters on Monaro.

Following the competition the club released 2750 Murray cod fingerlings and 8000 golden perch fingerlings. The club has also been involved with the local CMA and Cooma-Monaro Shire Council  installing fish habitat and bank stabilisation structures and revegetating the rivers.

It’s a great effort from such a tiny community. Let’s hope that some good flows from it, in the face or almost overwhelming odds, as the results from the local newspaper demonstrates.
