Title: Wivenhoe this Sunday
Post by: Muzfox on October 05, 2012, 01:07:19 PM
Taking my new outback for it's maiden voyage to Wivenhoe on Sunday. Going to be a bit of a shakedown, learning, attempt to catch something kinda trip  Plan is to be there at 6am for the gate opening at Logans Inlet.

Going to keep it simple, planing to troll around until I need a break then find something at the right depth and jig a bit. Fishing without a FF at the moment so I'll be a bit blind but trolling until the lure hits the bottom has always worked for me before

If your out that way, say G'Day, I'll be in the Olive outback. Will probably be off the water by around 9-10am, family duties will call me home unfortunately.

Well headed out early to Wivenhoe, everything went to plan, got there for the gates opening, then I saw the water. Howling wind straight onshore, chop and mess...That wasn't going to work for my maiden voyage...had no confidence in even trying it!

Mused about what to do for 5 minutes, don't know the rivers well enough to give them a go yet, not even sure if I should use the mirage drive or paddle it...and the only spot I know is twin bridges and really don't like the idea of leaving my car there..

So I ended up doing some k's and drove to Maroon. The dam was glass, ideal conditions. Launched and just trolled a deep diver for 2 hours, more getting used to the kayak than any real attempt at catching anything. Was a beautiful day.

Love this yak fishing tho, the silence, ease of the mirage drive to troll..I"m hooked :) Next time I might try and catch something lol.
