And the river suffers again , it will be unfortunate if Orange Council is succesful in getting their pipe line into the river above Dubbo to extract water for the Gold Mines , ah sorry "City" , ABC reported that they plan to take 1800 Giga Litres from the river a year
at .44 secs , if they are right then you wont have to worry about a two and a half million dollar fish way , duck down to Bunnings and grab a $20 step ladder as the fish will have to grow legs , learn to breathe air and eat dust , but council says they will only pump at high flows over 30ML , only trouble with that is a 1000% INCREASE  on their 30ML level is only a moderate flow in the river , Wednesday at Long Point there was a 298 ML flow and you can still drive across the river ! I think council is preparing to pump at drought levels when they will need the water ! maybe why their sump is below the bed of the river !

All the best with the fish ways , hopefully they get the money !

Mat remember politicians are like fishermen in the only time they tell the truth is when they call another one a liar !

Hey Greenfish,
Well said mate. Love it!
The pipeline is a huge concern for us all, and don't worry, we plan to step right into orange council on this one. We are trying to make as many people aware of their plan as possible.
Keep in touch mate and we will do our best to take the flevel! Kind Regards, Matt

  • Favourite Fishing Spot is: Connors River
It doesn't bode well for the Mac River.

Back to fishways, the best fishways are only ever as fraction as good as a river with no barriers, & then they only work when there's water running through them.....
