St. CRoix

(1/1)

takrat:
I took the St.Croix Triumph rod out after Cod last week and it worked really well with the Smoke baitcaster. The rod is a 6ft model rated 10-17lb with a fast action. I was casting a 26gram deep diving lure and it did the job really well. The Triumph range is made in St. Croix's Mexico factory, and has decent cork grips without the long split grips that seem to be on so many US rods. I also have a Temple Fork Outfitters rod with a Loomis designed blank but I had to shorten the handle. It's rated at 4-10lb but I think that's under rating it. In reality it's a heavier stick. It's originally 7ft long, shorter now since my surgery on the handle.

How long is the TFO? Loomis now ? hows it feel ?

takrat:
G'day Steve, I only shortened it by a few inches mate, so it's still a fairly long rod for a baitcaster, but I've put my Cronarch on it and it casts Barra lures quite well so I think that's going to be its job description from now on. It just won't cast a Bass lure; too stiff. Having said that it's a nicely set up rod so it will get a job next time I go to North Queensland.

Steve,' I measured the TFO rod and it's now 208cm. With the Cronarch and 30lb braid it casts really well with lures in the 18gm to 22gm size. I'm going to use it for Barra and jacks, should go well.

bushwacker:
Sounds like what it would be good for

Cheers
