Strudwick Dissapointment
« on: September 29, 2010, 11:56:59 PM »
I know that factory rods are not always perfect but one thing that really s#%s me is when a reel seat coms loose(which is exactly what happend to my 'Strudwick Bluewater Jig stick'. I have built enough rods in my time to know this should not happen >:( >:( >:(

Plenty of rods do that nowadays. It's P-poor standards really, considering it's about 4 c worth of glue at play- but a reputation at stake!

Don't Strudwick have unconditional guarantee.  I know they did have it, but it was very difficult getting them to honour it at one stage.  I've had a couple of experiences with them.  Surely they have to fix a manufacturing defect.

Brett I'd be straight into point of purchase with some meaningful questions.I'd heard strudwick had got their warranty act together now,be interested in how you go.

Mate I was going to get a Strudwick but after hearing so many reports of crook workmanship I decided against it. If you want a US rod have a look at the St Croix site. They have some really good rods from about $100 up to around $400.

To be honest I don't think I could be bothered going for the warranty. I'll just fix it myself. It's a real pity because the blank and rest of the build are good(at least it's built on the spine).
Oh well.

Shouldn't you at least give them the opportunity to fix the problem?  You may be surprised, and then be able to post up a positive opinion of the company.  I'd definately go back to the retailer where I bought it and try.

Going back to the retailer and getting the problem fixed under the warranty would take potentially weeks and I want to use the rod next week(I can fix it before then). I am not really trying to bag them too much as I love the rod overall and I am sure they would honour the warranty for what is obviously a manufacturing fault. Just having a gripe over a issue that just should not happen.
