Title: Lure retriever for the bass kayak...
Post by: 4weightfanatic on October 09, 2011, 03:21:54 PM
With the bass bug really set in and a stormy wet morning shanghaing our bass trip over the ranges I took the chance to knock up my lure retriever. Basically it is 8 ft long consisting of two different size fibreglass tent poles - the type used in dome tents - where the ferrules of the different sizes fit snuggly into each other. A stainless steel wire going the full length of the top pole bent over so it wont pull out and twisted into a spiral as the head. All parts are epoxied together. A ring fixed at the nose of the yak allows the spiral to be spiralled through it in place where it is then bent around/underneath the lip of the cockpit and held in place by a short loop of bungy cord within easy reach of the sitting position. All up it cost less than $10 with the bag of poles picked up at the dump shop for $5. Hopefully this will encourage me not to hold back and throw those lures in deep as well as help remove them from trees ::) Cheers Pat.

Well done Pat, a great idea. Better than using the rod tip (like I often do)
