Sick Little creek in sections
« on: December 13, 2010, 02:58:35 PM »
Did a little run down to another non dammed Goldy creek that I haven’t fished for a while. Had a look last Tuesday and the water was about 2 meters above its normal levels which I thought would be good, as last time I was there it was almost impassable through the lilies.

So with great in trepidation I headed down over the weekend.

After I dragged the yak down the bank and headed upstream I noticed a real strange smell. It was not a rotting vegetation smell but more of a petroleum based smell. Parts of the creek had a strange slick over it as well in places.

I didn’t have any casts in the area as the water was also real dirty with lots of suspended dirt in it and I held no great excitement of pulling a bass out of the turbid looking water. As I paddled along came across a goldy floating on the water. Knew that there must have has some undesirables around as most rivers and creeks have but as i paddled along noticed a few more and found about 5 in total. Also found a tandanus floating as well. No seen dead bass which was a good thing.

I went further upstream and under a few road and rail bridges. Water was still dirty and was unable to raise a scale or even a hit. So after about 4 k turned around and went back past my launch spot to find so cleaner water in and around some more brackish water.

Ended up scoring a 34 and 30 fork. Was a pain with all the weeds and cr@p in the water cleaning the lures after each and every cast but had a good day. Also got some cute little fellas which is positive for the future.

Lures that did the damage today was the Lucky Craft Tango Dancer and the Ponton 21 Crack Jack.

haven’t attached the pics of the 34 or 30 but the little guys get a show as I love the little suckers

bear with me for the pics. It keeps timing out on me.

Great to see you able to get out for a session on the water Steven.By any chance was that near the cement works "over the hill" from me?
Glad to see the Bass were floating the right way up compared to those other bugger's.

Cheers.
