Look's like fun. Tried in the Dumeresque last month there are lots there, only they weren't interested. Next trip I will try the red bead woolly bugger.

you know I didnt even think about that but your right , hopefully they will continue to fight for the rights of our whales in the Southern Ocean and not the exotic carp in our rivers and lakes , here's a sanatised video but no C&R except for the cod . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4k1dzpGm5Xs denis ' pink also works well on the carp in our area

I might try the fly rod on the Talipia, any suggestions on which fly pattens.

Thanks Gordon , dont know anything about Talipia and their feeding habits but the Woolly Bugger Fly is one of the most versatile fly pattern going be it for cod , yellow belly , catfish, trout , redfin and carp

You did a great job producing that video, really enjoyed watching it.
The wooly buggers I used last month were mainly olive weighted with small bead chain. I removed the flash from the tail when they were refused, but still no reaction. Also tried brown colours & had a try with a water beetle pattern. I'll take a big selection of flies next time & try some pinks that you mentioned.
Have you used glow bugs?
Just modified a spelling mistake watched the clip 4x now love it !

Not a matter of being overly sensitive, just a matter of being seen doing the right thing, in the right way or not being seen is all.
I flyfished carp from the Rivers south of Bris about ten or so years ago. Most excellent fun. Smallish hook with compressed bread flake. With the right sort of bread not too tightly squeezed it will float for a minute or so then sink slowly.
Everyone has their opinions about carp I think they are here to stay whether we like it or not. I also think they got a head start from how we have treated our waterways. They survive well in the poorest conditions. Sadly natives are not so resilient. As for them buggering up the waterways. I have seen ponds full of carp in Europe that are clear as any water anywhere. On light gear carp go off. Don't really wanna get into a carp debate, but I reckon if they put up a decent fight then they are worth targeting for a bit of fun specially if it's quiet otherwise.

Thanks Denis , have used glow bugs , the top fly at Wyangala Dam for carp is a glow bug in fluro pink , 90 something % of the carp we catch are activley feeding when we catch them , when they are just cruising they are very hard indeed , yeah for sure try some bead head woolly buggers in red and pink , they seem to out fish a lot of the browns blacks and greens .
