Title: damaged fishing rod
Post by: bjm on January 18, 2013, 09:55:43 AM
The young puppy dog i have (still alive but only just)  had decided my shimano sahara graphite rod (7 foot) looked like it would be could for a chew. The end result was a foot and half snapped off and some tooth marks in the handle. The rods have been moved and so far soo good.

What I'm not sure of is how the rod will go missing a 1.5 feet and only 4 line guides in it. Is there any components that will suffer for example casting distance or accuracy, fishing rod strength and will there less sensitivity.

Cheers Brad

Just get an end guide on it and use it for spinner baits or ice jigs. Be a tough little bass rod now!

You're definately going to lose casting distance and will struggle with lighter casting weights as it will be harder to "load" the rod during casting, but as stated above, re-tip it and use it as a heavy lure rod...perfect for cod lures on the kayak.
