A large release of Bass fingerlings will be held at The Spit, on Somerset Dam on Saturday December 11th at 9.00am, followed by a release into Lake Wivenhoe at Logan Inlet.  Interested people are free to attend and assist these releases.  There are at least 195,000 Bass for Lake Somerset and 123,000 for Lake Wivenhoe.

Are we spreading them around the dams Dale, & do you need more boats?
I'll be up at the spit about 0830.

Cheers Andrew

What did you fellas get up to up there at Somerset?  I was unable to attend due to work committments but was able to con the Mrs into going in my place.

Well, she had a great time !! Absolutely loved the transporting of the fingerlings at warp speed to all parts of the dam , I had to endure nearly an hour of her debrief when I got home .

Thankyou all for making her feel welcome .

Cheers,
Dave.

 ;D

There was a stack of us up there letting all those fish go free. Your lovely other half worked tirelessly releasing fish in a couple of boats.

The 2nd boat, a Skeeter was the warp speed one. Pity you had to work mate, we had a fun morning.

186 000 bass were released BTW. Was supposed to be 120k for Wivenhoe as well but they didn't come this trip due to some losses at the hatchery preceeding the release. No matter, they've got more in the pipeline.

Dont forget the Xmas party Dave.  ;)

Cheers,

fitz..

According to my brother who's stuck in hospital staring at the TV screen, Brad's Skeeter and my ugly mug made it on the Channel 7 news.

Yep, it was Bruce. Funny that 5 minutes before he had a brown bottle in hand.... Lucky it was ginger beer.  :thumbsup

I got some footage of the Channel 7 chopper harrassing boaters at a range of 40 or 50 feet above them, chasing them up the lake.

fitz..

No you dont Steve, we dont stock lazy fish, we expect them to swim themselves around the dam!  ;D

Well done fella's, even better you got some publicity, thats worth a lot to all of us who stock. Hopefully when a small local stocking group is doing the rounds of the pub with a chook raffle, peoples will remember the news story from this and what good stocking groups are doing and put their hands in the pockets. Might even encourage a pollie or two to be helpful!

One thing that probably encouraged me the most was that Brad Clark from Barrabass Rods came down from Towoomba to get involved.  :thumbsup

I would say that the appearance of a "Tournament Angler" actually showing up to assist with the fish release, or even getting remotely involved in the fish management program is a virtual non event. So, well done and thankyou to Brad. Would be good to see more TAs get involved.   :youbeauty

Cheers,

fitzy..
