Title: hi from a newbie
Post by: messy on April 02, 2011, 09:22:20 AM
hey guys, new to the site but after browsing for a few weeks finally got round to getting involved :thumbsup
im heading down to sofala (nsw) over the easter break and was hoping to get a bit of fishing in.
from my research its the upper turon river and i was just wondering if anyone on here had any experience around there? iv read there may be a few trout to be had. ill be taking light spin gear and would be interested in know what lures if any might get some attention?
also my dad thought i might need some kind of license for fishing in nsw, but im about to have a bit of a search on google about that
thanks and looking forward to sharing/gaining some great info from sweetwater!

Hi Michael,
welcome to the site mate. I haven't fished the Turon for many years but it used to be a reasonable trout stream. Most people seem to go there these days with thoughts of striking it rich, seeing as how it was at one time a top gold producing area. For the most part it's faily shallow and I'd be taking some small floating minnows that run abaout a foot under the surface. The river has a good pebbly bottom and from my recollection would be reasonably free of snags. You will need a NSW fishing license.
Cheers mate,
John
