Sneaky bugger on Kurwongbah today
« on: May 15, 2011, 02:16:28 PM »
Was checking my shrimp pots in Kurwongbah this arvo (dunno why I bother, 2 shrimp from 4 pots), when I came across this cheeky bugger. Having a ball he was chucking lures along the edges of the lillies.

Oh well I thought, dont have SEQ waters number on me, so I thought - good luck to him, wish my conscious would let me do such dodgy things,  and kept going.

But about half a k further down the road, here comes the SEQ Water ranger slowly going along the road having a good look out his window. I reckon one of the locals (plenty of houses overlook that area) might have given him a ring.

Reckon matie would not have been smiling as much after the ranger went around the next bend  ;D  and my conscious told me, "you were thinking about it weren't you!" not any more!

Yeah mate, 5 bream 25 to 32cm.
All on these lures I got from ray's outdoors on special the other week (their own brand, 6 for $20)

Went as far as the bridge, worked the pylons for a while on top of the tide, then cast my way home with the drift. The bass must be further up still! Looks bass'y tho!

Another Impoundment that we should be able to access with electric and manually powered craft!
He doesn't look to be doing any harm to me.

Untill he launches illegaly in NPD and translocates cambomba weed there.

When the Water Board was a government department, they would have been cleaning out the Cabomba weed, now they don't give a continental stuff about the weed or the tax payers.  Just lock everything up and make as much as possible out of selling water.

There is a lot of ways that Cambomba weed can be translocated. I would be more concerned about the same yabby or shrimp traps being used in both dams.

What difference does it make?
Well it makes yakkers look bad and makes it harder to convince the owner that if we got access for kayaks they would follow the rules for a start.

I wonder what would happen if 50 yakkers turned up on a Saturday afternoon with a news crew and just started paddling and fishing?

Probably the same as would happen at Perseverence Dam.

Like Ray said, speedbumps.....if that. See a surfer got cleaned up on one of the bar crossings on the goldy a couple of weeks back.

Wow I'd hate to try kayaking across Somerset on Aussie Day weekend....  :OMG

Yep, definately a cheeky bugger. Wonder if he caught anything?

It would be awesome if kayaks / canoes were premitted on Kurwongbah. It's a bit like Field Of Dreams... if you build it, he will come.. put the fish in, people are going to want to catch them.

fitz..

Bottom line is if it was stiil controlled by MBRC kayaks / canoes would be permitted.

cheers

Why would he be in trouble? I sort of know the area but isn't yaking allowed where he is? If not where is that so I don't find myself in trouble
