The week just gone.
« on: October 24, 2013, 06:48:37 PM »
My regular fishing buddy is back in town so I offered him a land based session last week on the northside. Conditions weren't ideal for a bass bite but he was rewarded at the first pool with a new pb yella of 52cm on a Garra Tera

We did get wet, we did raise a sweat and the fishing was slow.

Scenery definitely made up for it though, even though I couldn't raise a scale for most of the day.

Eventually I did manage a yella for myself also on a Garra Lure.

That was the end of the fish action for the day.
Yesterday was my mates turn to take me out Ippy way.  It was bloody hot and even with the sun high I was getting smashed on spinnerbaits right up high in the water column. This 42cm fish hit the lure as I hopped it over some exposed timber on the surface.

The cicada's were getting pretty loud and I saw quite a few hit the water and even a stow away.

It was a sign so I changed over to a small popper and out in the open, there was a swirl around the back of the lure so I stopped and waited for the fish to come back. Went to give it a twitch and my line was slack.  Started winding and there was a bit of a dead weight all the way to the yak. Saw a flash of silver then all hell broke loose as the fish realised it was hooked.  Took a bit to get it up, sat under the yak doing its best deep water snapper impersonation with head shakes.  Evetually slid the net under a 48cm bass.

My mate eventually tempts a nice bass out of a snag using a spinnerbait.

Last fish landed fell to a D&S timber job retrieved through deeper water past a snag in the middle

There was a lot of action around our lures but we only stayed connected to 5 fish for the few of hours on the water.

Great report mate, looks like a bit of a trek but some very nice scenery!  You got some nice fish from the yaks. Looks like a challenger for report of the month too  :youbeauty
