Back to the Boyne vid catching and releasing Barra on Ima Jigs.I've found these a very effective way to catch schooled up Barra in the last month or so on the Boyne,they should work really well on schooled up lake fish that refuse all other offerings.

They also make a 20 gram one that I recon will slay the schooled up bass in winter,any of you guys that fish bass comps should give them a run,I've been very impressed with them on the barra so far and I doubt any schooled  bass could refuse them.

Messes with my head that fish eye lens, looks like you're precariously placed on a pole and the boat is a bucket. I'd say its not the first time you fished solo though by the look of things.

I must try one or 2 of those jigs, would be so easy to use a single hook barbless with those suckers.
and yeah that fisheye sure puts a neat curve in those rods

Paul, what weight in the ima jigs have you been using? In the photo it looks like you have tied your leader to the hook end, or is it just hard to see in the photo?

Yeh the fish eye lens bends everything out of proportion but I think gives great effect,yeh Dick I fish alone a lot and really enjoy it,when ya take people out a lot it's just nice to have the boat to ya self and enjoy,no knot tying or instructing where and how to cast just have fun and solitude with some music and the go pro.

The boat a 4.1 poly and I love it great lil boats and soooo quiet and stable.

4000 Stradic 20lb Bionic and a Gary Howard Shikari 4-6 kilo great outfit for that job.

Na Chris take the head strap off and dunk it in with one hand and fight the fish with the other [multi tasking ]
Also got a hiking pole that I use for the salt with Tuna and other species.

Dougout you wont be disappointed in them they are fantastic I'll put up a short flick soon of one working the the water and you'll see why fish eat them.

Mike the leader is tied to a small solid ring attached to the split ring and I've got 30 and 40 gram but the ones I used on the Barra were 30's the 20's would be great on bass I think.

Thanks Muntzy,and yeh I found the blade fowled less with just the rear heavier treble a Owner st66 size 4

Below is a flick of the Ima Jigs being worked in front of the Go Pro camera out in the salt,it's easy to see why fish eat these lures there's a few of the captures to date on my boats at the end I did put music to it but something went wrong and it didn't work and I wasn't going to do it all again so you'll have to watch it in silence or choose your own music.

THanks again Paul, Glad to hear you like the Stradic 4000 cause I just bought one to take up to Karumba with me in May. I've got 30lb braid and a 50lb leader, but bringing some 60lb as well.

JD you wont be disappointed in the 4000 great lil reels,one thing I would suggest is if your in Brissy go to Jones's tackle and get Neil or Steve to up-grade the drag washers to carbontex it makes a world of difference the standard drag is ok for general fishing but if you want more pressure for bigger fish they are the way to go.


On another note I've been told by a mate that lives in Tanum that there have been 14 dead turtles washed up on the beach at the mouth of the Boyne and the EPA and Deedi are investigating it,apparently no reason other than drowning,plenty of nets out there to cause that from what I saw on the trips I had up there, maybe that will all stop soon!!! but really the horse has already bolted!!!!!!
