Blue-green algae outbreak on Murray River
« on: March 06, 2016, 07:59:42 PM »
A bloom of the toxic blue green algae has occurred in sections of the Murray River from Lake Hume at Albury to Koondrook which covers more than 350 kilometres. The public are warned to avoid any contact with the river water. The bloom is expected to worsen over this week with the hot weather we are experiencing in the area. Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) has also issued a blue green algae warning for Cairn Curren Reservoir, Laanecoorie Reservoir and the Loddon River (in Vic) between the two reservoirs. GMW are monitoring the outbreaks closely and for more info, head along to their blue green algae page here: http://www.g-mwater.com.au/bluegreenalgae-alert/
