G'day there.
« on: January 24, 2012, 01:23:01 PM »
Thought I might as well say Hi.

Hi.

Real name is Craig.
Currently living in Yeppoon, until May anyway.
Kayak fishing is my main love.
Used to live in Cairns and fished for Jungle perch and Sooty Grunter.
Then travelled around Aus in a caravan for 15 months. Caught a few fish in that time, but it wasn't a fishing trip.
Joined here cause I went cod fishing with StevenM and WayneD who I know from AKFF.
Hoping to find some toga and barra while I live here, local fishing shop gave me a heads up on a few spots.
That's about it for now.
Some pics....

Yella belly from the Darling river.

Tandanus from the Darling river.

A NSW bass.

Lots of tassie trout.

Atlantic salmon.

Silver cobbler from Lake Argyle.

Barra from Mataranka.

Roper bar.

Barra from the Limmen river, tidal but fresh - does that count as sweetwater?

If not, this one came out of a freshwater river.

A nice JP.

A Koomboolomba sooty.

Cheers
Craig

That Argyle Power Tail is a ripper.  Welcome, we're not all like StevenM here.

Some nice fish there mate, but I won't be joining you on the Roper in a Kayak. Seen too many lizards up as far as Mataranka. Welcome to the site though, and look forward to some interesting input.
Cheers,
JD

Welcome Craig any closer to decideing where your going to put roots down ? Alot of knowledgeable helpfull fishos on this site so no doubt you'll pick up some great info to add to your experience. The way this rain is shaping up we all might have to head out west for some cod as the local bassin' is shot for a while now. Cheers Pat.

G'Day Craig,

Welcome aboard  :thumbsup

Have you had a look around at Waterpark Creek just north of Yepoon?
Some pictures here http://www.sweetwaterfishing.com.au/Forum/index.php/topic,1083.msg2914.html

Call in & chat to Tim at Farnborough Store. He's a kayaking freak  :youbeauty Not sure if he's huge on fishing, but he knows the local water pretty well from a paddlers persective.

There's supposed to be some good barra in some waterholesnot far off the northern side of the highway back to Rocky.

Cheers,

fitzy..

Hey Pat, we've bought a place out near Texas. It was only meant to be a weekender, but I think we'll end up living there until the eldest hits year 11 at least. It's just too nice being on our own place.
Thanks Fitzy, waterpark creek looks nice. The guy at one of the local tackle shops (the secret spot I think it's called) gave me a few freshwater places to try, but I forgot the names and can't find them on google earth so I may have to ask again. I've only got a fibreglass fishing ski here at the moment so any waterways will need to be wide and rock free for now. If needs be, I'll bring one of my SIKs down from Cairns though.
