Had the family camped beside the Upper Mary River over the weekend. Pretty little spot just perfect for the kids. Somehow the rods found the way in the ute :P Spent most of the time helping the girls casting spinnerbaits, but did get the chance to flick one or two. Was stoked to come up tight against a Mary River Cod. Was a bit nervous when my initial thoughts were confirmed by a slash of green, especially as I was on 6lb string and 8lb leader. My first one and damm they are a pretty fish. Very quick pic and watched it power away strongly.
Very happy!!!

Thanks guys. Having never seen one in the flesh before I was really impressed as to how vivid the green colouring/spotting actually is (photos don't do them justice). It was also great to see it is such healthy condition post flood as the water was 6-7m higher then what it was in the photos.
Special fish.
