Fishing the Severn, suggestions appreciated.
« on: January 20, 2015, 05:25:46 PM »
Hi Guys,
We are looking at chasing some Cod (lures, release only) in the Severn.
I am looking at spots around Emmaville NSW and Sundown National Prk QLD.
We want to be able to camp and fish with tinnies, not kayaks.
Must be public access, don't need to be shot at.
We will have a 4hr or more drive so we need some decent water.
Thx
Chris.

When you say tinnie, do you mean roof topper or on a trailer?

There's the odd larger hole that a tinnie could be used on, but public access is going to be an issue to get to those holes & there's no boat ramps. Bonshaw Weir is probably your only option and you want a good 4x4 to be able to back a trailer down there.

Thx Guys,
I prefer rivers to dams.
One boat is a topper, other on a trailer and both too small for Glenlyon if it blows up.
Are there spots at Glenlyon safe for small boats close to where we can put them in?
On google maps I found what looks like a boat ramp/ suitable spot on strathbogie road about 13km from Emmaville towards Inverell.
It the water to shallow here?

To all the other guys who all helped out with suggestions, thx.
Having boat access is not a deal breaker as I am unfamiliar with these areas.
Up here in QLD, you can take a boat anywhere, we don't have rock pools in the Condamine.
We want to go somewhere we can camp and catch some Cod without walking to far or getting abused by land owners who think they own the water.
