Wow, this meeting was a whole lot different to the first one.  Some of the opposition groups showed up in force this time and were extremely vocal.

You blokes are entertaining, love a good read.

'Basser' is the best, the man has a great way with words, but you may have noticed that.

Glad I don't live next to him.

What were they opposed to Dale?
Pretty much anything to do with enjoying Lake Wivenhoe.
All boats and Kayaks carry guns according to one excitable lady.
The current users scare the cattle.
There are many cattle stolen around Wivenhoe.  (Hard to steal a bullock in a tinnie!)
Boats cause erosion, but the wind waves don't.
Wind waves are too big and make power boating dangerous. (I guess its ok for Kayaks though.)
The noise of boats will upset the serenity of "our" lake.
I could go on, but you get the drift.

Dale you would've been in your element!!
Must have been a national day of action for lease holders, we encountered the same on the border. >:(

Well at least we know its not you. Chops come from sheep and pigs not cattle!  Now if we could get you to stop carrying a gun in your yak all would be good.

One very vocal opponent to any changes at Wivenhoe was the guy why runs Somerset Park.  I wonder if he would have changed his opinion if he'd been the successful bidder for the camp grounds at Wivenhoe.

Dale is that Somerset Park below the dam wall or Somerset Holiday Park at kirklea?
I could foresee a drop in income for both if Wivy is open for stink boats and skiing.
I think that leaseholders will be against any further opening up of access to any of the dams.
I wonder if the leaseholders are paying commercial or peppercorn rates for their leases?
Would be loud squealing if they suddenly are charged commercial rates.
I was talking to one of the leaseholders at North Pine a couple of years ago and he was winging about BAS permit holders stealing a post hole borer ( Tractor Mounted Type) from a shed on his property.
Bit hard getting one of them down the hill and into a small tinney.
The main thing is that everyone gets to give an opinion and hopefully common sense will prevail.
Cheers
Ray
