Title: Hinze dam eastern arm 16/9/10.
Post by: rayke1938 on September 16, 2010, 04:26:25 PM
The temporary ramp at the eastern arm was reopened on Monday Morning so I and mate decided to give it a go and see how it is fishing after a long spell.
Launching at 6am.
The ramp is a bit ordinary but ok with care.Just be a bit carefull backing your loaded trailer when launching and use your hand brake to slow down . If you use your foor brake the front wheels lock up and you just slide backwards with no steering.

Also even though the gravell next to the concrete looks tempting for retrieval dont attempt it unless you are in a fourby.

When you rertieve your boat only back it down till the trailer wheels just hit the water and then winch it up. There is a fairly steep ledge at end of ramp and you may have a problem getting traction.

The rangers were there putting up some new signs when re returned to the ramp and I pointed out the dropoff at the end of the ramp and suggested some gravell would help a lot.
Hope they report it as they said they would.

One of the new signs.

Wonder how long it will take till it looks like this.

Back to the fishing.

Fishing not bad we never left sight of the ramp.with most caught in this area.

Had caught 20 fish before 7am and ran out of bait by 8am with over 40 fish caught then we trolled for a while and got nothing so Ryan started throwing spinnerbaits and in line spinners to the bank and picked up some more.
At least 30 or the fish were between 40 and 46cm which is a great size for the hinze.

All fish released

Recommend giving it a go.

Cheers

Thanks, interesting reading the sign it state you need a SIP to fish, by this if we have one you purchase on line it should cover you, wonder when this changed.

Looks a great session. Fished there this morning for the first time and scored 9 bass as spent most of the time chucking surface lures looking for a toga !!!
Heres the best from the morning, taken on a jackall. First fish this morning fell to a surface lure and all the rest to a jackall
