With most dams making a comeback after the devastating floods it's good to hear some positive news from Awoonga. I got this picture yesterday, and can only assume it's from an Electrofishing Survey. The comment with the pic was that there were still sh!tloads left. As the water warms, expect the reports to come flooding in. (Pun intended.)

Good to see the barra, I've no doubt there's barra getting caught there, but many locals are so tight lipped about sharing reports, especially the guides who I would think would want to be promoting the fishery as a desirable destination. Anyhow....
That's a bad excuse for a porno face from Dan tho. ;D

That's good to hear, for all concerned.

Reckon there will be a lot more interest from the locals with the salt out of bounds.

There hasn't been a lot of guiding work happening.
A lot of that can be attributed to prophets of doom with too frigging much to say.
It's been a good opportunity to get down the track with my crime fiction novel -
"A lusty saga that rages from the smoke of war to the sleaze of Sydney’s underbelly and across the outback
to a foreboding river in the deep north from where there is no return."
A full lake has altered the winter heating dynamic. The shallows just didn't happen, the fish stayed deep.
Johnny Mitchell has had a sensational winter in the salt.
Last I heard Jason Wilhelm may have gone from Barra Madness to the barra sadness of workboots and 12hour shifts.
I accompanied the electro-fish crew last night. The results confirm that a lot more barra of all sizes stayed in the lake during the overflow. In the words of the bloke in charge of operations "The latest Awoonga yield has been as good as any barra dam we've sampled."

Good to hear Rod (barra present and the advance in the novel) - was planning to hit a wild barra fishery before close of season north of Awonga with dad - so may have to swing by the lake on the way back! - Jim
