Hinze Dam with a surface boom now.
« on: May 10, 2013, 08:31:44 PM »
Heard reports there was a surface boom across the upper reaches of the western arm at Hinze Dam, so went for a paddle today and took some pictures.

It is located on a reach about 500m to 1km north of the old gravel ramp, have seen green algae up there in the past so maybe that is the reason for the boom.

It has a lot of growth on it so has been there a while, and goes well up the bank on either side.

cheers RICHO

Thanks for posting Richo....

These booms are often used to keep weed confined eg, hyacinth, salvinia etc

Must be something there they don't want to spread.

Used to be one on Samsonvale to stop weeds. Then the water rose and it was FAD. Then the water really rose................... now it is growing goose barnacles somewhere in the pacific.

I managed to hook a unstoppable in a cove right next to the old gravel ramp.
Will anyone be attending the ABT bass electric next weekend ?
