Rod Blank Suppliers

(1/2) > >>

bushwacker:
Been having a squiz around at lists of rod blanks by different manufacturers and am having trouble finding a suitable 5' - 5'6",6-12lb rod blank casting weight around 1/4 to 3/4oz range. This is usually to do with the fast tapers these days creating an excessively sensitive and soft tip.

The reason being I want something in this size and weight range is it fits a niche between creek bashing the banks and kayaking without getting in the road too much in tight water and during portage.

So looking through the St.Croix and Loomis blanks they have not really produced anything close enough in some time.
So I think my options are to hope someone may suggest a company that make something half decent in this size or just buy a Loomis 6' IMX blank and cut it down.

Suggestions or thoughts

I'm pretty sure that MoTackle could help. Last time I was down there getting sensory overload they had quite a collection of blanks.

They are pretty limited help on the phone but that's where I got my 3 St.Croix blanks through... still haven't built 1 don't know if I will or just sell it

Steve I had a look on their website last night and they do have a fairly big selection of blanks. Might be best if you go on line and sift through it all. They have a lot more than St Croix and Loomis.
