Title: Calcutta range
Post by: Jmills on July 13, 2015, 01:41:01 AM
I'm having abit of trouble at the moment, I'm looking at buying a Calcutta 200 for mostly murray cod and freshwater fishing but don't know wether to get a d series or old school b, I like the look of both but looks like the b is still tougher than the d but the d looks abit smaller which I like, but dunno it's giving me the s**** and help would be appreciated.

hey there. I own a 251 and 251XT (lefties) and dad has a couple of 200's - all of which are older models. Their drags are awful! They cast fine, but snag up trolling or hook something decent and they're real jerky. I've meddled with the drag a bit by replacing washers etc but the sticky drag eventually returns. Others may have further comments on alternatives or maybe drag upgrades. Or, maybe the new versions have smoother drags?

Cheers, NS

Hey I ended getting a 200b and took her out the other day and she was fine, the drag star itself is abit stiff to use but the drag itself is pretty good but meh, I got it more for its strength and reliability, too many reela these days with plastic parts n all the rest. Cheers mate

Good to hear. They're still a pretty good reel.  :)
