Expression of Interest—Obi Obi Gorge, Kondalilla National Park
« on: December 07, 2013, 09:42:18 PM »
Expression of Interest—Obi Obi Gorge, Kondalilla National Park  Expression of interest (EOI) submissions outlining zipline concepts within Kondalilla National Park are sought from experienced individuals or organisations with the necessary skills, creativity and financial resources to deliver a zipline experience.
Obi Obi Gorge is part of the Kondalilla National Park situated in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, approximately 100km north of Brisbane. The zipline would be a first on the Sunshine Coast, and unique in Queensland, offering an attractive investment opportunity in adventure ecotourism. This is one of the Queensland Government’s ecotourism investment opportunity to be released to the private sector as a site-specific EOI.
The EOI is the first stage in selecting a successful zipline proposal to be authorised under the Nature Conservation Act 1992 (NC Act).
The tender process will be conducted in two stages:

  • Stage 1—Invitation for expressions of interest (EOI)
  • Stage 2—Request for detailed proposals
The EOI is designed to qualify proponents by determining how appropriate the development concept is for the site and whether the proponent is suitably experienced and has capacity to finance and operate the project.
EOI submissions will be assessed against the evaluation criteria and shortlisted proponents will be invited to the second stage of the tender process—the request for detailed proposal.
Interested proponents should read the following documents prior to applying:
Site visit  Proponents are encouraged to attend one of the Obi Obi Gorge Zipline Ecotourism Opportunity site open days on either:

  • Thursday 28 November at 11 AM; or
  • Thursday 12 December at 11 AM.
The open days will be hosted by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service to give proponents a better understanding of the site, location, development potential and constraints.
A representative from the  Department of Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games will be available on site  to answer any questions on the tender process.
All costs and expenses incurred will be entirely met by the proponent. This includes costs associated with their site visits, preparation and submission of proposals, including but not limited to attendance at meetings, discussions, and providing additional information required by the Queensland Government.
Potential proponents who wish to attend one of the open days should register their interest via email ( mailto:ecotourism@dtesb.qld.gov.au ) by the close of business Tuesday 10 December 2013. Registered proponents will receive the time and location of the site visit by email.
Submissions must be received by 4.00pm (EST) on Friday 28 February 2014.
During the EOI process proponents may submit questions; request clarification and further information ( ); and obtain a copy of the cultural heritage survey* (currently being undertaken) by sending enquiries to ecotourism@dtesb.qld.gov.au ( mailto:ecotourism@dtesb.qld.gov.au ).
