Thanks to the Anglers who do the right thing and take your rubbish home.

Following our Easter Break, staff from the Inland Fisheries Service cleaned up 2 popular sites from the Lake Catagunya and Wayatinah areas.
It was great to find that fishing related litter was minimal however illegal dumping of waste in close proximity of boat ramps, day use areas and in some cases into the lake margins was not.
Staff removed a full ute and trailer load of rubbish that included burnt seats, tarps, cans, glass bottles, steel poles and 3 garbage bags full of discarded nappies showing a distinct lack of regard by some for the impact on habitat and water quality.
Along with the dumping of rubbish, an “Angler Access” sign was found to be vandalized which will have to be replaced if the graffiti can’t be removed.
It is a shame that not everyone does the right thing.
