Very nice fish mate! Sounds like you're gettin a few good ones!  :thumbsup

I'm interested to know how did she look swimming away? I've always wondered how those bigger cod handle the fight and if they release ok?
Cheers

No worries Brett, although the way things are going, the length may have to be a guestimate as I keep forgetting my measuring devices.
Would also be interested in assisting with tagging, is it a once a year kinda thing?

She swam away very strongly. Simply opened the lipgrips and she was off!!!! Only kept out of the water briefly. Freshwater fish can often survive decent periods of being out of the water but I really wanted to get her back in ASAP.

Craig,
Did it take long to get the fish to the 'yak on the light gear? Just wondering what sort of a fight you got out of her. I may end up leaving my 30lb braid and 40lb leader at home. Yes I know that's overkill for the Dumaraesq but I'm an optimist; you never know when the big one will grab your lure.

Took me a little over 20 minutes, maybe pushing 30. I checked the time when I hooked up and again when I landed her, but can't remember exactly. Call it 25 minutes.
No screaming runs, but definately a dogged fight. When she wanted to pull drag, she did.
I spent a bit of time paddling one handed to keep the fight to the sandy side of the river.
