Crossing back from the dark side.Hinze Cracker
« on: October 25, 2013, 08:21:03 PM »
Last month I took a young bloke bait fishing using live shrimp in amongst the dead trees at the western arm of the Hinze.
Prior to this he has been fishing there fairly frequently using hardbodies and soft plastice and was happy to get a couple of fish per outing.
Since converting back to live shrimp he has been getting around 40 fish per trip and he caught this cracker last week end.
Took me around 8 years before i caught a 50 plus bass in the hinze.
 Cheers
Ray

Cracker of a fish. I didn't realise Hinze had them so big.
I must admit, I have never fished with shrimp. I always use lures, but you have me wondering if I should give it a go.
Do most people catch their own shrimp, or buy them? Who sells them?

I keep four pots in the dam. A lot of aquarium shops sell shrimp but they were around 65cents each last time i looked.

Bloody good fish Ray, regardless of what you caught it on.

Matt is certainly happy about that bass  :Clap). You do know your stuff Ray  :youbeauty. Just goes to show, live natural bait (shrimp) will always out perform artificial lures and the like.

In the trees on the other side of ians island
Mate got this one around the same area on 20/11/13. No accurate measurement as we did not have a brag mat.
The bottom of the nallyware bin later measured 58cm.
We have caught 2 more there over 50 so there are some good ones there but very rare as it has taken me nearly 10 years to get a 50 plus bass there.Cheers
