Bremer River bass
« on: September 09, 2012, 07:56:59 AM »
This will be my first report on this forum and fingers crossed i actually catch more bass so i can add some more. I talked my family into buying me a second kayak for fishing the local rivers and creeks and after reading a few post on the Bremer i took the vapor to Shapcott Park for it's first fish. I didn't think I would actually catch anything but it fely good casting spinnerbaits at real snags instead of pontoons chasing bream like I have been doing for the last few years. I was a bit concerned as about the 6lb leader after reading some of the reports but as I said I didn't actually believe I would catch anything anyway. Cut a long story short i caught 4 bass over a two hour period with 3 between 25 and 30cm approximately and one little one at 15 roughly (didn't take rule). It was great session for me and now I can't wait to get back out there. All were caught on a purple and white spinnerbait.

PS i had forgotten how great it is to only travel 5 minutes to fish an no salt water to clean off everything ;D

Sounds like a nice trip.
Those small bass would have pulled like a good bream, and so much more fun, as you say, tossing lures at real snags!
Arm yourself with some heavier leader for your next trip, its not just that the bigger bass could break 6lb, but also they will tow you in to the snag if you muck around playing them to much.

Fished the Stanley last weekend in one of my small yaks, I had forgotten how quick a decent fish gets a small yak moving in the water. Got towed in to snags twice resulting in lost fish.

Not a bad sesh that we had tonight hey Wes !

Wes with a nice BoganBass.

A couple of mine.

Wes can't fish the Wivy Comp this weekend , so we had a sort of comp tonight. Wes won the night , his seven beating my five.

Cheers,
Dave.

Yo-zuri Crystal 3D Shrimp.

Here's a link to some google pics of them , I feel guilty that I didn't buy them at my local tackle store , but bought them down in brisbane near Cooparoo.
